Class 1 (C+E) Training

The gold standard. Drive any articulated vehicle or drawbar combination.

What is the C+E License?

The Category C+E license (formerly Class 1) is the highest standard of HGV license available. It allows you to drive vehicles with a Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) over 7,500kg with a trailer over 750kg. In practice, this means the largest articulated lorries (Artics) seen on UK motorways, weighing up to 44 tonnes.

Highest Earning Potential:

Class 1 drivers are in the highest demand and command the best salaries in the logistics industry. This license is essential for:

  • Long Haul Tramping: National and international distribution.
  • Supermarket Distribution: Large scale supply chain logistics.
  • Tanker Driving: Fuel and chemical transport (requires ADR).
  • Container Transport: Dock and port logistics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is "Car to Class 1" really possible?

Yes. Government legislation changed recently to allow this. However, it is a steep learning curve. We recommend our 30-hour intensive course to ensure you have enough time to master the vehicle.

Is reversing difficult?

Reversing an articulated trailer is the hardest skill to learn. The trailer moves the opposite way to the steering wheel. Our instructors are experts at teaching the "uncoupling" and reversing procedures simply and effectively.
